Large museum featuring prehistoric Indian culture and artifacts
Cahokia Mounds was the largest prehistoric Indian community in America north of Mexico, with 120 mounds over a six square mile area and a peak population of 10-20,000 people around AD 1150, built by the Mississippian culture. A world class museum tells the story of this important site and culture, as well as interpretive trails and signage.
